updates updates finally!

a BIG HELLO to everyone reading this and wondering if anyone is going to update this blog. yes i've been checking in everyday and i see really enthusiastic people asking us if there's going to be any meetings or gathering of sorts.

for now, i can only apologise because the teachers, aka us, have been really busy with settling the students to their new classes as well as a whole load of responsibilities with e new year. we've been trying to find a common time to meet up so that we can organise any events for you to participate in as well as update u on the cedar youth wing so far. not to worry, we're as excited as you are abt the start of a cedar youth wing so we'll definitely try to update u guys out there once we have something in place.

for those who have already signed up with us here, we've definitely heard u & u guys would be the first to know of any goodies we have in place. for those who have not, feel free to just leave us ur name & contact so that we can contact u anytime. XD meanwhile, really appreaciate the support that u're showing to this website. do remember to check out e uploaded photos to spot the teachers and e school that i'm sure many of u miss fondly (including me) XD

The vision of Cedar Primary extends beyond the 6 years. It is our hope and dream that pupils who graduate from Cedar Primary School will continue to shine in the places they are and will be.

This is the fundamental reason for the existence of Cedar Youth Wing Alumni. This alumni seeks to continue the good work that has been seeded in the foundation years. We want to see graduands serving, leading and making a difference in the places they go.

Youth Training

To prepare our graduands, we are looking at training at 3 levels:

a) Basic - newbies

b) Intermediate - corists

c) Advance - twinkles

These training courses are only for committed alumni members who are and will be actively serving in Cedar. We believe in investing in our people because people matters. But you must be ready to serve before you lead. This is the heart of a true leader.

Gathering of Alumni

To have a gathering of hearts and minds, we are planning for a get-together for all former pupils (till polytechnic age) in the month of end November 2007.

Did you know that in some parts of the world kids know how to make dozens and dozens of amazing string figures? Making string figures is a pastime that kids and adults throughout the world have enjoyed for thousands of years.

String figures are really fun to make! Long before TV, or even books, people were using string figures to illustrate the stories they told around the campfire.

What are string figures?

String figures are designs formed from nothing more than a loop of string. Most of the time, people use their fingers to weave string figures, but sometimes, they also use their toes, knees, elbows, and mouth. The result is often a fabulous pattern!

Who invented them, and why?

No one knows for sure. String figures were once known to nearly all native inhabitants of East Asia, Australia, Africa, the Arctic, the Americas, and the Pacific Islands. In fact, some designs are believed to be ancient, perhaps dating from the stone age. Their function varied from place to place. In some locations, string figures provided a much needed artistic outlet -- competitions were held to see who could make the most interesting design. In other locations, string figures were used by tribal storytellers to illustrate their tales. Elsewhere, string figures served as good luck charms to help ensure a bountiful harvest or a successful hunt. But in most locations, string figures were made simply to kill time!

Water Babies? Are they alive?

Water Babies, if u haven noticed, are the most IN thing now. What it actually is remains a mystery to all. Some claim that these UFO (unidentified floating objects) aka water babies can multiply like a amoeba if u put in a BOY water baby & a GIRL water baby, others claim that plants or some other weird living things have grown out of these water babies.

after doing a check online, i found out that these so called water babies are actually just water crystals and contary to popular beliefs, it is NOT a living thing, NOR a baby.

How Water Crystals Work

Water Crystals are odorless white water-absorbing polymers that absorb and hold water. These little water crystals absorb up to 400 times their weight in water, and expand to many times their original size to make beautiful clear gel-like water crystals.

Some of the uses include
- Water used in floating candle displays
- Fresh flower arrangements
- Growing plants without soil
- Hand crafts and home decorating
- ice/heat packs.

These water crystals are most commonly used in gardens and farms as they are useful in capturing excess irrigation in any type of gardening or farming. They also help keep the soil moist, creating a healthier growing environment.

btw, i'm currently having problems getting use to how a flickr photo album works. it'll be great if someone could guide me on how. i'm still sourcing for photos of my primary school days. anyone has any photos that u might wanna contribute?

hey hey! welcome!

cedar primary will be setting up our very first cedar youth wing soon so we'll need contributions from cedarians both past and present.
As we're just starting out, this blog will be slowly expanding to include many other features so do check it out. meanwhile, we welcome all suggestions, contributions (including photos of ur life in cedar pri XD) and most of all, ur active participation to keep this blog alive & happening!
